Drinking water is important any day of the year, but when the temperatures climb, it’s essential to reach for that water bottle often. And this summer, that hero of hydration can get a whole new look courtesy of a brand-new program from the St. Charles Park District.
Inspired by a similar program from the National Parks Service, Stuck on Parks is an opportunity for all who patronize St. Charles parks and facilities to learn more about what their community has to offer while also collecting stickers meant to adorn a special water bottle. Available in limited quantities while supplies last, the green dishwasher-safe water bottle is emblazoned with the park district’s logo and can be purchased for $10 during regular business hours at Pottawatomie Community Center, 8 North Avenue downtown St. Charles.
“This program is a fun way to engage the community this summer,” said Erika Young, marketing manager for the park district. Sticker collecting begins June 1 and continues through July 31.
Twelve destinations will take part in the program, each with its own unique design.
“People will receive their first sticker when they go to Pottawatomie Community Center to pick up their water bottle,” Young said. The staff at north guest services will provide individuals who present their park district water bottle with a sticker featuring the grand historic pavilion at Pottawatomie Park.
Other spots include Otter Cove Aquatic Park, which showcases mascot Ollie the otter relaxing in an innertube. The design for Hickory Knolls Discovery Center features a smiling Blandings turtle and an illustration of a big red barn is front and center for Primrose Farm. The design for River View Miniature Golf Course is that of a lighthouse among wildflowers.
Other places taking part in Stuck on Parks include Swanson Pool, Norris Recreation Center, Sportsplex and Pottawatomie Golf Course.
Those seeking stickers can also head to STC Underground Teen Center on the lower level of Baker Community Center, and the paddlewheel riverboats—park district staff at the south guest services of Pottawatomie Community Center will help individuals. Those participating can also receive a Baker Community Center sticker at guest services on the second floor of the building.
