By mid-summer, teens may start to become restless, but with a variety of activities hosted by the St. Charles Park District, there’s no excuse to say “I’m bored.”
“Summer can get long, so our goal at the teen center is to make it a great place to hang out, but also to teach new skills and have fun while doing so,” said Darby Beasley, STC Underground Teen Center Director.
There will be no shortage of fun for teens during two Block Party events, held on Fridays from 2-8pm on July 27 and August 24. The festivities will take place in the alley alongside the STC Underground in the Baker Community Center, 101 S. 2nd Street.
Previously, the park district held one summer Block tadalafilhome Party, but its popularity with teens prompted staff to add another date to the summer schedule. It’s no surprise teens enjoy this summer afternoon, which is filled with a variety of activities including bags, water balloon fights, music and some BBQ with other refreshments.
During the block parties, the teen center will be closed. All activities will be outside. The cost to participate is only $5 per person, in advance or at the door.
If teens don’t get their share of water games at the July Block Party, they will have another chance during the Super Soaker Battle from 2-5pm on Saturday, August 18.
A new program this year, teens should come armed with their own super soakers. First meet at STC Underground Teen Center and then walk on over to Mt. St. Mary Park where the battle will begin.
And when they’ve had enough, they can chow down on some much-deserved grilled food and enjoy the summer day in the park. Or, they can rest up, draw out their super soakers again and demand a rematch!
The fee for this event is also only $5 per person, in advance or at the door.
For teens who enjoy an indoor, air-conditioned event, the teen center is hosting a Make Your Own Pizza Party from 4-7pm on Thursday, August 30. Teens will get their hands messy while learning the steps to make homemade pizza during this new, end-of-summer program.
Whether it’s meat, veggies or a mix of both, all tastes are welcome. Participants should come hungry and be prepared to toss fresh dough, spread sauce and pile up their favorite toppings, while having fun with friends. While this program is a free event, participants should register.
