Whether you want your children to burn some energy, play a pick-up game with friends or make up your own activity, St. Charles Park District has the perfect space for you.
With turf fields available at Sportsplex and gym space at Haines Gymnasium and Pottawatomie Community Center, it’s easy to get out from the cold and into various recreational activities. Gather your friends and plan a toddler playdate; step away from screens and shoot hoops as a family; or play other games, enjoying the change of scenery. Get creative. It’s your temporary space, make it what you want.
Rentals are available by the hour, during the daytime Monday-Friday. Residents can call ahead to reserve a spot, but can also book the same day if space is available. Rates vary by location.
Residents are encouraged to bring their own sports equipment during the pandemic, although Haines does have volleyballs and basketballs available.
Other ongoing activities include indoor walking for adults at Sportsplex from 8:30-9:30 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and at Haines from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Indoor walking is free for residents and $3 for nonresidents at both locations.
Or practice pickleball during drop-in hours at Haines from 9 a.m. to noon on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, or at Pottawatomie from 1:30 – 4 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays.
At Sportsplex, there’s still time to sign up for Reds Academy Soccer Skills & Scrimmage for age groups 3-5 and 6-10. The next session starts March 6.
Additionally, Sportsplex will offer Drop-In Soccer for ages 5-18, from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, March 29. All skill levels are welcome. The entire turf field will be open for fun and games using mini-goals, cones and equipment. Staff will engage players in activities.
Masks are required to be worn at all times in all facilities.
