Due to popular demand, the St. Charles Park District recently added several more Sunset Cruises aboard its paddlewheel riverboats.
Make it a date night, a girls night or fun night with friends and family, witnessing the beautiful evening sky transform before your eyes aboard the Fox River Queen or St. Charles Belle II. With live music playing, unwind as you sip cocktails and munch on appetizers taking in the natural scenery, and the autumn foliage later in the season.
Don’t wait to purchase tickets, as the one-hour Sunset Cruise sells out quickly. The cruise is BYOB and patrons must be at least 21 years old to attend. Each Sunset Cruise is limited to 60 passengers.
“The Sunset Cruise is our most popular special event,” said Jen Bruggeman, Assistant Superintendent of Recreation. “Guests like the casual, relaxing atmosphere and gorgeous views. Whether you’re looking out the windows on the covered lower deck, or experiencing the fresh air in the upper deck, you’re surrounded by nature at every corner.”
The following Sunset Cruises are available for purchase on the following Fridays:
– 7:15pm, August 9
– 7pm, August 23
– 6:30pm, September 6
– 6pm, September 20
– 6pm, October 4
– 5:45pm, October 11
– 5:30pm, October 18
Additionally, there’s still time to register for the Fox River EcoCruise from 6:30-8pm Wednesday, August 21. Led by a Park District naturalist you’ll learn about the ecology, wildlife and various species of birds you see along the river during the 90-minute trip.
Through the end of August, the regularly scheduled public cruises will continue at multiple times, seven days a week. But come September and October, cruises will only be available on the weekends. During the 50-minute cruise, patrons learn about the landmarks and history along the riverbank as well as flora and fauna native to the area.
On each cruise patrons can purchase binoculars, cotton candy, kettle corn, water and sailor hats for children to decorate.
