Event includes photo with Santa, Ugly Sweater Contest
Include your favorite pup in the holiday festivities this year during their own Doggie Howliday Pawty from 1-3pm Saturday, December 1, at the Baker Community Center in St. Charles.
This St. Charles Park District event is a fundraiser for the Underground Teen Center, replacing the annual ornament sale. The fee is $10 per dog. Advanced registration is required.
Dogs will have the opportunity to participate in trendy and traditional holiday activities. Make sure you plan your outfit accordingly, as there will be a holiday-wear contest with awards for ugliest and cutest outfits. And don’t leave without snapping a photo with Santa to place on your mantel. Also on the agenda is a trick challenge for dogs.
“It’s a great way for dog lovers and their pups to have fun at the park district but also know they are supporting a good cause in the community,” said Lara Piner, Park District Supervisor.
The Underground has been providing a safe hangout for local teens in grades 6-12 since 2001. The fundraiser will help continue to provide free programming and purchase equipment and basic supplies.
Every little bit helps, as the Underground in 2017 alone had more than 1,000 teen members (memberships are free), and teens visited the center more than 5,400 times.
“If every community supported a teen center they would be as lucky as St. Charles,” said Darby Beasley, Teen Center Director.
All dogs at the Howliday Pawty must be on a non-retractable leash up to a maximum of 6 feet; have current vaccinations; visible tags; and be accompanied by at least one person, at least 16 years old.
