St. Charles Park District staff have been in contact with our Park District Risk Management Agency, the Kane County Health Department and the Illinois Department of Public Health to monitor and receive updates regarding COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
Your health and safety is our top priority!
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) have both reported that, at this time, the health risk to the general public from Coronavirus remains low, and there is no need to cancel park district activities or events.
We encourage you to take the some simple, everyday common-sense precautions, which include:
- Stay home when you are sick.
- Wash your hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Cough or sneeze into your elbow or a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
According to IDPH, there are several respiratory viruses like influenza currently circulating in Illinois. Fever, coughing and difficulty breathing are symptoms associated with all of them. Therefore, anyone exhibiting these symptoms should not be assumed to have COVID-19. If your, or anyone in your family, develop such symptoms, we urge you to contact your medical provider immediately.
The CDC continues to modify its recommendations as more data about the transmission of Coronavirus becomes available. For updated information, please visit the following websites.
The District will continue to monitor incoming recommendations regarding Coronavirus, as stated above, and will update you if there are any significant changes in recommendations.
