Fitness is good for the body and the mind and with these great classes offered through the St. Charles Park District all ages can improve their mental and physical well-being while having a fun time. These classes are offered at the Norris Rec Center. Advance registration is required.
With KidsFit children will love the high-energy fitness regime that combines cardiovascular/resistance and functional training designed for those ages 8-13. While these are a great workout, children will enjoy the challenges, both mental and physical. The class also promotes teamwork as it creates fun and fitness. The next session is Thursdays, April 8 to May 28, from 4:30 to 5:25 p.m. Fee is $96 for members and $120 for nonmembers.
For younger children, check out Tiny People Yoga, for those ages 4-6. This playful class introduces children to young with exercises to strengthen their bodies and understand basic breathing and relaxation techniques. In a world where children often have stimulation overload this class is a great way to help them learn how to focus through breathing. The next session is Wednesdays, April 7 to May 26, from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Fee is $50 for members and $75 for nonmembers.
For adults who would like to improve their focus there is Mindful Meditation. This weekly class gives participants a chance to participate in a discussion followed by a 15-minute relaxing guided meditation. The benefits of meditation can include an increased feeling of positivity, relief from anxiety, improved healing and overall health improvements. And our instructor has more than 35 years of experience in leading meditations. The next session is Saturdays, April 10 to May 1, from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Fee is $60 for members and $80 for nonmembers.
