Start Planning for School’s Out Summer Fun Now!
In spring, a parent’s thoughts can turn to worries about summer and what to do when school’s not in session. Now’s the time to start making plans for summer camps at the St. Charles Park District. And with things like flexible registration, easy add-on of swim and tennis lessons, new Traveling Teens options, and Before and Beyond Camp sessions to help busy working parents, Pottawatomie Camps have something for everyone in every family.
The Flexible Registration process allows families to pick and choose which days their children will attend their favorite summer camp. It’s a user-friendly, streamlined and convenient way for families to maximize their children’s’ camp activities while also being able to accommodate other family commitments. Flexible Registration enables families to sign up for one-week camps and select the exact days of the week their campers attend. Pricing options let families chose from 1-3 day schedules to 4-5 day schedules. Spots fill up quickly and space is limited, so be sure to sign up soon!
Camps are all about convenience and two additional programs make scheduling as easy as a summer breeze. For children who also want to take swim or tennis lessons, camp counselors are on hand to escort campers to and from swim lessons at Swanson Pool and tennis lessons in Pottawatomie Park. This has been a popular program for parents since it eliminates the extra trips required to bring their children to their lessons. Two-week sessions of 45-minute swim lessons are held four times during the summer, enabling children who want to take swim instruction and two-week sessions of one-hour Orange Ball and Junior Development tennis lessons are also offered four times during the summer camping session.
But for campers ages 10 and older, sometimes camp means getting out of town – even if only for a day at a time. The popular Traveling Teens camp is now available five days a week, with adventures changing every day. Parents can register their teen camper for Monday-Thursday or Monday-Friday camps, which run from 8:30-6pm. Trips depart and return to Pottawatomie Community Center, with returns scheduled by 5pm. Adventure-oriented excursions can include destinations such as Great America in Gurnee, Top Golf in Naperville, and Navy Pier and a Sea Dog cruise in downtown Chicago.
For all camp programs, parents can also opt for the Before and Beyond Camp programs to provide additional care for children outside regular camp hours. Drop offs can take place as early as 7am for teens at 7:15am for summer camp and pick ups by 6pm for all camps. Campers can enjoy this extra social time with their friends and participate in games and activities. Children must be enrolled in a full day of camp to take advantage of these extended camp hours.
