July 4th Fireworks
2024 Information
In response to public safety recommendations from the St. Charles Police Department and in collaboration with the City of St. Charles, the fireworks launch was relocated to Langum Park in 2023. This new launch site was a success allowing the fireworks to continue to be seen along the Fox River with the best viewing locations on the south side of downtown St. Charles.
Around noon on July 4th, a big red balloon will be displayed above Langum Park. If you can see this balloon, you will have a great view of the fireworks at DARK. |

Viewing Site

- The upper east side of the park will be available for viewing.
- The lower west side of the park will not be available for viewing.
- Guests must remain outside the safety perimeter which will be marked with designated fencing.
- Guests will not be allowed the in the grassy area along the Fox River Trail across from Langum Park as the safety perimeter extends to the Fox River.
- Pathways will be closed 10-20 minutes prior to the fireworks show.

Reminders
- The safety of residents and patrons is the St. Charles Park District’s first priority.

- In the case of inclement weather, the fireworks will be postponed and promoted at a later date.
- Alcoholic beverages, smoking and fireworks, including sparklers, are prohibited in St. Charles parks.
- Follow carry in/carry out Leave No Trace trash etiquette.
- Parking is limited. Please plan accordingly.
FAQs
All large special events within the community rely on the St. Charles Police Department assistance providing general public safety. It was the recommendation of the Police Department to find an alternative location.
These locations are not recommended viewing sites. Best viewing will be on the south side of downtown St. Charles since the launch location is Langum Park.

Launching the fireworks from Langum Park allows the spectacular display to be seen along the Fox River with the best viewing locations on the south side of downtown St. Charles such as Mt. St. Mary Park and the open areas downtown near Prairie & Illinois Streets. Plan your viewing area in advance keeping in mind tree lines, the train trestle and tall buildings.
Langum Park will be closed to the public starting at 7am on July 4 to allow the pyrotechnic company set up and operate the fireworks display.
Daytime activities that will occur on July 4 in Pottawatomie Park include include miniature golf, paddlewheel riverboat cruises, golfing, swimming and picnicking with refreshments available for purchase.
Music will be played at Mt. St. Mary Park and Langum Park.
From 4pm-DARK, enjoy music and purchase refreshments from local food trucks.

Public parking is available throughout the downtown area. As with other large scale community events (i.e. parades), No Parking signs may be temporarily posted so please plan plenty of time to find parking.
Rt. 25, immediately adjacent to the launch location, may be closed during the fireworks show from approximately 9:20-9:50pm. Rt. 31 will remain open.
City streets, unless posted, are available for public parking including holidays. Vehicles parked on public streets cannot block fire hydrants or private driveways. If this occurs, call the Police Department at its non-emergency number: 630-377-4435.
