In March 1999, the District purchased seven additional acres from Ed Regole to contribute to a new sports complex on the east side of town.

On June 1, 2002, the District hosted the grand opening of this park site in cooperation with the St. Charles Boys' Baseball Association and the Girls' & Women's Softball Association. The public was invited to celebrate with a hot dog picnic, visits from four retired baseball legends -- Bob Miller, Paul Popovich, Jimmy Piersall and Terry Donahue, and some friendly baseball/softball games.

This park site was made possible by the assistance of grant funds from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, an Illinois FIRST grant and the Kane County Board.
