Recreation Programs

Create A Class
Do you have an idea for a class or program you would like to see offered? Better yet, do you have a special interest or talent you would like to share with others? Park District staff are always looking for new program ideas and instructors with creative ideas or “hidden” talents to teach or lead various recreation classes. If you have a particular interest/talent and are willing to lead activities, or if you have a suggestion for a new program, please contact Jeff Greenwald at 630-513-4335.


Arts & Crafts

Enjoy a variety of art & craft classes for all ages. Adult classes include painting, stamping, photography, drawing and watercolor. Youth classes feature drawing, cartooning, painting, jewelry making and many other options for both boys and girls.

Cooking

Spice up your culinary skills! Making desserts for upcoming holidays is always a yummy treat. Cook up some special treats or a fancy meal. Little ones may also learn how to prepare dishes for holidays.

Dance

Going to a wedding? Whether you want to learn or improve your dancing moves, the District has all types of classes. Choose from swing to ballroom to line dancing and more.

Farm

Experience many day-to-day aspects of farm life. Meet the farm's livestock of chickens, cows, pigs and sheep when you participate in a variety of programs. Learn the old-school skills of blacksmithing, threshing and more.

Fitness

Grab your friends and learn to Hula! Or calm yourself with a yoga class. Classes are offered for all ages and skill levels.

The District partners with experts in music education and theatre productions to bring you the best of the best opportunities. Learn to play a piano or guitar. Or practice your acting and improv talents.

Learn about local wildlife, insects and reptiles. Bring your family out for overnight camping. Hike through the snow looking for squirrels. Whether you're indoors or out, the District provides an array of nature & environmental programming.

Sharpen your skills on Excel or PowerPoint through a computer class. Learn how to put on a magic show for your family. The District offers a wide range of activities for those who want something beyond the ordinary.

Special Events

The District offers a variety of family fun special events all year long. Whether you're taking a ride with Santa, looking for Big Foot, competing in a track & field event or visiting the Easter Bunny, you are sure to enjoy many types of special holiday fun.

Sports

Ranging from toddler tumbling classes to adult competitive softball, the District offers sport opportunities for all ages. There are a variety of programs to hit everyone's interests including baseball/t-ball, basketball, football, lacrosse, martial arts, soccer, softball, tennis and more.

Trips

No School Day trips are offered for working parents. Kids will take adventures to all sorts of Chicagoland hot spots. Hop on a bus with your friends to spend the day at a water park, amusement park or playing paintball. All ages will enjoy theatre shows, sporting events, museum tours and much more! For those ages 50+, spend a day listening to the Elgin Symphony Orchestra or travel with to Holland, Michigan for the Tulip Festival.
